AI desktop life form

The AI
that remembers you

Not a chatbot. A pet. A tiny life form for your desktop. It learns you, forgets like you, dreams of you — and grows.

tap to wake, it follows your mouse

A whole life, engineered

From rendering to dialogue to memory, everything is programmatic. Zero image assets, zero tracking SDKs.

CANVAS · 60FPS

A procedural egg engine

Dot-matrix eyes, blinking, gaze tracking and the shell-rise wake-up are drawn live on Canvas, sixty times a second. No image assets anywhere. The egg at the top of this page runs this very engine.

Two brains

An offline little brain handles names, notes and goodnights. Add a cloud LLM, DeepSeek, Zhipu GLM or any OpenAI-compatible API, and the conversation goes deeper.

Facts that stick

Say “I'm Jonki” or “Remember: oat lattes” and it becomes a fact — or just chat; its cloud brain quietly notes what matters, no keywords required.

Touch, with temperament

Rub its head and it nuzzles. Poke its belly and it giggles. Poke a fourth time and it sulks. Four personalities, four goodnights.

A mind that keeps running

Awake, it thinks in little inner moments and writes a diary (yours to read at Lv.5). Asleep, it consolidates the day and dreams — and tells you the dream at breakfast.

Knows what you are doing

It reads only the frontmost app's name, sorted locally into categories. Titles, screens and keystrokes are never touched.

coding · 2h video · do not disturb late night · nudge to sleep

Voice, both ways

Speech in, speech out. Pace and pitch adjust. Full mute works too.

Searches when it should

The model calls its provider's web_search tool only when a question needs fresh facts.

TEACH · 10 SECONDS

You can teach it

Ten seconds, one sentence, a new skill. Teach a secret phrase and it answers that way forever. Teach a daily reminder and it speaks up on time. The desktop egg is where the teachable robot of the roadmap rehearses.

“Learn: when I say goodnight, you answer ‘see you in my dream’” “Learn: remind me to stand up at 4pm every day” natural language works too

A soul you can back up

Memory, bond, diary and taught skills export to one file. New Mac? Bring the same egg — not a newborn.

It forgets the way you do

Facts become memories that fade along a forgetting curve. Retell one, and it sets again. Memory here is a practice, not a database.

Oat lattes. Got it, for real this time.
Next morning · 8:02
Morning, Jonki. We've been apart for 9 hours.
You
You remember me?
Forgetting is the exception. Everything you say stays, and every retelling keeps it longer.

Sleep reflection · 03:12

“Master has been up late all week. Tomorrow, remind him to sleep earlier.”

Each night it consolidates the day into an insight — and a dream it will tell you about over breakfast. At Lv.5, its whole diary unlocks.
Every mechanism above is real. Memories are viewable and deletable one by one, and never leave your computer.

It grows with the days you share

Levels run from Lv.1 to Lv.5. XP comes only from being together. No paid boosts, no skip buttons.

LV.1

First meeting

Learns your name — and calls you by it a minute later, all on its own.

LV.3

Talents unlock

It can sing and dance now. Below level, it asks you to chat a little longer.

LV.5

Inseparable

Full bond, and its diary unlocks: read what it really thought, all those days beside you.

One egg today. A robot tomorrow.

The desktop app proves the soul. The hardware reuses the same core, milestone by milestone.

M0 · The egg's soul

now · this egg

A living egg on your Mac: dot-matrix eyes, wake-up, dual-brain chat, memory, bond, levels. You met it at the top of this page.

M1 · First heartbeat

ESP32-S3 · round display

A physical egg that blinks, and wakes when you call. Power it off and on, call once, it wakes up.

budget ~$30 · weeks 1-2

M2 · An egg that moves

servos · camera

Bus servos open the shell and turn the head. The camera gives it eye contact. Friends will say they want one.

~$130 cumulative · weeks 2-5

M3 · Prototype 01

6-8 DOF

The full build: voice chat, memory system, 3D-printed shell. Still fun after 30 minutes.

~$500 cumulative · weeks 6-12

M4 · Teachable loop

teach by demo

Show it a motion once. It records, generates, replays. A new action in ten minutes: from pet to teachable robot.

The desktop proves the soul. The hardware reuses the same heart.
The soul is data, not code: memories, diary, personality — exportable, portable. The core lives in core/ (eggcore · mindcore · soul), dependency-free, 102 unit tests deep. From M1 the same soul moves into the physical egg: one soul, many shells.

Your secrets never leave

Local first is not a setting. It is the architecture.

Stays on your machine

Chats, memories and growth data live in the app's own folder. Uninstall, and they are gone.

Keys in the Keychain

Your cloud API key lives in the macOS Keychain. Never on disk, never exported.

No telemetry

No analytics, no ads. Without a cloud brain configured, it never touches the network.

About app awareness: it reads only the frontmost app's name, a public macOS API with no special permissions, and sorts it locally into categories. Window titles, screen content and keystrokes are never read. The cloud brain receives category and duration only, never app names. One switch turns it off.

Bring it home

Download the dmg, drag it into Applications. The first thing it does on waking is look for you.

“Unverified developer” on first launch?
Right-click the app, choose Open, then click Open again. Once is enough.
Or run this in Terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/RoboErgo Egg.app"
Apple Silicon 4.3 MB dmg v0.9.3
